3 November 2023

On November 3, a memorandum of cooperation between MGIMO University and Taylor's University, Malaysia, was formally signed in a remote format.

At the ceremony, MGIMO University was represented by Andrey Baykov, Vice-Rector for Science and Research, and Olga Khotyasheva, Director of the Institute of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, while Taylor's was represented by Dr. Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management, as well as by Dr. Joaquim Dias Soeiro, Head of the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events.

The memorandum has given students doing their Master’s degree in Industrial Marketing of Goods and Services an opportunity to spend their second year studying Hospitality and International Hotel Management in Kuala Lumpur. The main target audience includes MGIMO students doing their degree in Hospitality Marketing, a program which has been headed by Ivan Kiseev, Development Director Russia and CIS at Marriott International, for the last five years.

According to the QS World University Ranking, Taylor's University ranks 284th in the world, 49th in Asia and has been recognized as the best private university in Southeast Asia for four years in a row.

In addition, Taylor's University ranks 17th in the world and 1st in Southeast Asia in the QS ranking by subject "Hospitality & Leisure Management", and is also included in Top 100 global universities by subject "Business and Management Studies", which makes Taylor's Business School the best private business school in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

MGIMO Institute of Marketing and Entrepreneurship and Taylor's University have a lot in common, e.g. industry practices are actively involved in teaching, many subjects are structured according to a modular system, graduation papers are practical projects, and educational programs are well compatible in terms of their content and coverage.

Taylor's University has a unique infrastructure, which includes several wine laboratories, simulators of cafes and restaurants, as well as its own mini-hotel for students to practice their skills. Also, Taylor's University is the first university in Malaysia in terms of student mobility with approximately 60% of its students coming from abroad.

Similar agreements have already been signed with Asia Pacific University (A.P.U.), Malaysia, and Yeditepe University, Istanbul. At the moment, Alexey Tuzov, a MGIMO student doing his Master's in Industrial Marketing of Goods and Services, is spending his second year of studies in Yeditepe University.
