Overview

MGIMO offers 112 degree programs in 17 areas of study: international relations, foreign area studies, political science, law, economics, journalism, advertising and public relations, management, state and municipal administration, business informatics, commerce, tourism, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, linguistics, ecology and natural resource management.

MGIMO has 13 Schools, Gorchakov Lyceum and College.

The main MGIMO campus is located in Moscow; other campuses are in Odintsovo (Moscow region) and Tashkent while an educational platform is operating in Geneva.

There are 8,600 people studying at the main campus, with MGIMO-Odintsovo and MGIMO-Tashkent having 2018 and 320 students, respectively. The faculty comprises 1233 people. The share of international students is 13%, while the share of foreign faculty is 11%.

MGIMO teaches 53 foreign languages (Guinness World Record).

MGIMO is the leader in terms of the Unified State Exam scores of its applicants (97.98).

MGIMO offers 27 international network programs and network programs with Russian universities such as MIPT, MISIS, MSU, SCOLIPE, Gubkin University, Kuban SAU, Stavropol SAU, RSHU.

There are specialized corporate departments and programs of Rostec, Rosneft, Transneft, Nornickel, UMMC, Gazprombank, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Government of Moscow Region, with over 20 regional agreements.

MGIMO is a key university for the dialogue with France, Austria, the Czech Republic; Japan, South Korea; for the ASEAN Center.

In 2020, MGIMO joined the World-Class Research Center.

In 10 years, the number of Scopus publications has increased 22-fold (from 21 to 466 articles), with the share of Q1 and Q2 publications having grown from 10 to 43%. MGIMO publishes and supports 11 research journals.

The share of University’s own (non-state) funds is 64% of its total budget.

MGIMO holds the 348th position in the QS World University ranking, being 41st in the QS World University Ranking by Subject (Politics). It is also among 200 best universities in the categories of Modern Languages, Law, Social Sciences and Management.

MGIMO School of Business (accredited by AMBA) holds the 41st place among the European programs included in the QS ranking (Executive MBA program), being 61st in the QS Global MBA ranking for Europe.
