July 21st, the Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO PrepCom) Lassina Zerbo met with the representatives of MGIMO.
The distinguished guest arrived at the University accompanied by CTBTO Youth Group Coordinator Maria Chepurina, Director of On-Site Inspection Division of the Provisional Technical Secretariat of the CTBTO PrepCom Vadim Smirnov and Attache of the Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control of the Russian MFA Nikita Striganov. On the MGIMO side, the delegation was received by Vice-Rector for Human Resources Vladimir Morozov, Deputy Head of the Department for Work with Students and Graduates Ivan Aleksandrovsky, and Assistant to the Vice Rector for Human Resources Ekaterina Kostyakova.
At the beginning of the meeting, Vladimir Morozov briefed the guests on MGIMO's activities in various areas. "In order to increase Russian representation in the international organizations of the UN system, the MGIMO human resources is consistently working on establishing contractual relations in order to organize internships for students as the first step for their future employment," he noted.
According to the Vice-Rector, today thanks to the existing agreements, the University's students annually have internships at the UN Information Centre in Moscow, the Moscow office of the UN-HABITAT, the regional offices of the Food and Agriculture Organization, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Vienna, the UNDP regional offices in Belgrade, Bishkek, Dushanbe, Yerevan, Minsk, and at the International Atomic Energy Agency.
For his part, Lassina Zerbo stressed that signing of the agreement between MGIMO and the CTBTO PrepCom, which took place in April 2021, allowed for more opportunities for internship and further employment for the University's students. He especially highlighted the work of the CTBTO Youth Group that facilitates the activities in this area.
An important part of the visit was the handover of a signed copy of the agreement by Vladimir Morozov to Lassina Zerbo, which makes it enter into force.
