Eighth Edition of MGIMO and UNITAR Joint Course for CIS Civil Servants

November 25th, the MGIMO-UNITAR international training course for diplomats and civil servants of CIS member states started at the University.

The eighth edition of the course began with an opening ceremony attended by the Director of MGIMO’s School of Business and International Proficiency A. Mirzoeva and its Deputy Director E. Glazov, the UNITAR Program Coordinator Philip Ober and the Advisor to the Department of International Organizations of the Russian Foreign Ministry K. Vartanyan.

This year, the training course had for main theme: «Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals: First Results and Prospects». The Professor at MGIMO’s Department of World Economy L. Kapitsa gave the first lecture to the audience.

The program is designed for diplomats and civil servants of CIS countries (Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) and other states (Cambodia, Serbia, Syria, Cuba, Laos), who are professionally involved in ensuring the sustainability of global development at the national, regional and international levels.

During the week of studies, leading professors and lecturers from different MGIMO departments (world economy; international economic relations and foreign economic affairs; demographic and migration policy and foreign economic activity in energy transportation) will deliver lectures to the guests.

The guests will participate in a rich academic and cultural program during their time in Moscow.
