MGIMO and University of Nicosia to Create Joint MA Program

December 21st, MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov and the Rector of the University of Nicosia, Philippos Pouyioutas signed an agreement on the implementation of a dual Masters degree program. The signing ceremony unfolded in Cyprus at the University of Nicosia and was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Cyprus Stanislav Osadchiy.

Students enrolled in the dual program will receive diplomas from both universities upon graduation. The joint project will be launched in September 2019. Cypriot students will spend their first year in Nicosia and move on to Moscow the following year where they will defend their thesis under the supervision of MGIMO’s best academics, while Russian students will begin their studies in Moscow and complete their second year in Nicosia.

During the signing ceremony, Andrey Baykov remarked that the partnership between two leading universities in Russia and Cyprus was extremely promising and that the creation of this joint program was a starting point for interaction to flourish in many different spheres. Philippos Pouyioutas thanked the Vice-Rector for his visit and noted that it is an honor for the University of Nicosia to collaborate with one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Andrey Baykov expressed his gratitude to the Russian Ambassador and the Russian Cultural Center for their support in this exciting endeavor.
