MGIMO Welcomes Foreign Minister of Mongolia

February 14th, Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, also a graduate of MGIMO’s School of International Law (1988) Tsendiyn Munkh-Orgil came to MGIMO.

The University’s Rector Anatoly Torkunov received the Minister together with the Ambassador of Mongolia to Russia Banzragch Delgermaa and an Advisor of the Embassy.

The parties spoke about the training of Mongolian students and the creation of specific courses for diplomatic staff. 40 Mongolian citizens are currently studying at MGIMO and over 500 have graduated from the University since 1951. The Rector mentioned to the Minister MGIMO’s tradition of holding World Forums of Alumni and the participants of the meeting mulled over the possibility of Mongolia hosting the forum in 2018.

The sides also discussed the opportunity for Mongolian youth to participate in Russian educational and cultural projects, among which the World Festival of Youth and Students to take place in October. The guests from Mongolia also expressed a particular interest in MGIMO’s MBA programs. Tsendiyn Munkh-Orgil also met with students from Mongolia and encouraged them, upon completion of their studies, to join the Mongolian Foreign Ministry.
