November 15th-18th, the IV International Ecological Forum «Save the Planet Together» was held in Kaluga. MGIMO was represented at the event by its Vice-Rector for Legal and Administrative issues, Sergey Shitkov.
The forum gathered representatives of 17 Russian regions and 167 organizations and corporations. It was attended by government representatives, and the management of institutions dedicated to natural resources and ecology. MGIMO’s Vice-Rector Sergey Shitkov participated in the forum and gave a talk to the guests on the need to educate young people on environmental protection.
The speaker also noted that the economy requires modern qualified environmentalists, like those trained at MGIMO’s School of Applied Economics and Commerce («International Economic and Ecological Issues» specialization). These MGIMO graduates speak two or more foreign languages and have learnt to forecast and design innovative solutions to deal with the complex environmental problems of the future, noted the Vice-Rector. Sergey Shitkov also remarked that it is very rewarding to train environmentalists as you can observe how their attitudes change towards nature and the natural resources around them.
