May 24th, during a state awards ceremony at the Kremlin, the Director of MGIMO’s International Institute of Energy Policy and Diplomacy received from Russian President Vladimir Putin in person the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
According to the decree Number 95 of March 1st, 2017 of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin «On granting state awards of the Russian Federation» the Order of Alexander Nevsky was bestowed upon Valery Salygin for his contribution to scientific research and education. The Director of MIEP has indeed brought about a fundamental reform in how energy diplomacy and international energy cooperation are taught at MGIMO.
During the ceremony, Vladimir Putin noted that: «Presenting state awards in the Kremlin is not only a solemn event in itself, but it is also an act of high recognition of the achievements of Russian citizens, bringing together in this famous hall outstanding, talented, if not unique people».
