Ambassador of Brazil Speaks at MGIMO

November 14th, during the week dedicated to Latin America at MGIMO, the Ambassador of Brazil Antonio Luis Espinola Salgado was invited to deliver a lecture at the University. The meeting was timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between Russia and Brazil.

The visiting delegation also included the Adviser of the Embassy Fabio Vaz Pitaluga and the Second Secretary of the Embassy. The guests were greeted by the Head of MGIMO’s International Office, Egor Andreev, who presented the main areas of cooperation between Russia and Brazil and spoke about MGIMO’s collaboration with Brazilian universities in the educational sphere.

During his lecture, Antonio Luis Espinola Salgado noted that bilateral cooperation has proved itself to be mutually beneficial in many spheres, including defense, energy, agriculture and even the space sector. The Ambassador expressed satisfaction at the growing volume of bilateral trade this year and remarked that there was a huge potential for its further development. Alongside cooperation in business, the guest underlined the success of joint initiatives in the cultural sphere, mentioning the Festival of Brazilian cinema organized in Moscow and the translation and publication of children’s books by the Embassy.
