MGIMO and Trianon Dialogue at Russian Energy Week

October 3rd, Russian Energy Week started at Moscow’s central exhibition hall «Manege». Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke during the plenary session.

The program of the first day of the forum included a session on «Energy-Efficient and Smart Cities: French and Russian Experience», organized by the «Trianon Dialogue» civil society forum. The forum’s main theme for 2018 is the «City of the Future». The French Ambassador to Russia Sylvie-Agnes Bermann and MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, also co-chairman of the Trianon Dialogue, extended their greetings to the guests.

Experts, heads of corporations, civil servants and diplomatic staff of both countries discussed the modernization of cities, the optimization of energy systems and shared their best practices. Among the participants were: Dmitriy Berdnikov, the Mayor of Irkutsk, Benoit Lebot, Executive Director of the Secretariat, International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation, Eduard Lysenko, the Head of the Department of Information Technologies of Moscow, Alberto Pasanisi, Group Manager of «Smart and Sustainable Cities» at the European Institute for Energy Research.

The session was moderated by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Artem Malgin and by Mikhail Shapiro, Member of the Committee on Entrepreneurship in the Housing and Utilities Sector at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and General Director of Danfos. On the sidelines of the forum, Anatoly Torkunov attended a meeting with the President and Chairman of Total’s Board of Directors Patrick Pouyanne to discuss future prospects for the «Trianon Dialogue».
