September 27th, the ninth Russia-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum unfolded in Baku. The participants of the plenary session were greeted by the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev.
The program of the forum comprised a number of round tables during which were discussed the ways to improve trade turnover, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries. The forum was attended by civil servants, representatives of the business communities and non-governmental organizations of both countries. The event was organized by Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, with the support of the Roscongress Foundation.
MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for General Affairs Artem Malgin and the Head of International Complex Problems of Natural Resources Use and Ecology Department Ruslan Aliyev participated in a round table on bilateral cooperation in education. The Vice-Rector discussed with the Azerbaijan Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov the implementation of the plan to open a branch of MGIMO University in Baku. On the sidelines of the event, MGIMO representatives met with the management of ADA University and other Azerbaijani institutes.
