25 September 2018

September 25th, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov received the Slovak Ambassador to Russia Peter Priputen.

The main goal of the visit was to prepare for the upcoming official visit of Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak, who will be awarded an honorary doctorate of MGIMO University. The sides also discussed how to expand the cooperation between MGIMO and Slovak universities, through student exchanges, joint research and publications.

Anatoly Torkunov told the Ambassador about the conference organized by MGIMO and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the creation of Czechoslovakia in 1918, during which should also be remembered the signing of the Munich Agreement, one of the saddest pages in the country’s history, as its 80th anniversary also falls in 2018.

The meeting was attended by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Research Evgeny Kozhokin, the Head of the International Office, Egor Andreev, as well as by representatives of the Slovak embassy in Moscow.
