Ambassador of Peru Talks at MGIMO

September 25th, the Ambassador of Peru to Moscow, Luis Benjamin Chimoy Arteaga, came to MGIMO for a meeting with the University’s management and to deliver a lecture on his country’s history and foreign policy. The event was organized by the University’s Centre for Ibero-American Studies and its Department of Spanish.

The Ambassador was greeted by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov, who told the guests about the traditions of our University and the array of academic programs if offers. The sides discussed the prospects for cooperation between MGIMO and Peruvian universities.

The Ambassador gave a talk to students and faculty members of the University specializing in the Spanish language. Luis Arteaga spoke about the history of Peru, underlined its common features with Russia and described its priorities for economic and social development. The Ambassador also analyzed Peru’s geopolitical position in the region and addressed the topic of bilateral relations with Russia.
