January 15th, the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, came to MGIMO University to attend a meeting with the leadership of the University and to give a talk to students.
MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov introduced the guest to the audience and underlined the friendly nature of relations between our two countries, which date back to Soviet times.
The Rector emphasized the importance of the visit for MGIMO and announced the decision of the University’s Academic Council to award Emmerson Mnangagwa the title of Guest of Honor of MGIMO for his contribution to the development of the African continent and the strengthening of international cooperation.
The President expressed his gratitude to the University and went on to deliver a lecture dedicated to the social and economic development of his country, the challenges resulting from globalization and the political situation in Zimbabwe. Emmerson Mnangagwa also reflected on bilateral ties with Russia, expressing his interest in expanding cooperation. After his speech, the guest took questions from the audience.
