MGIMO Holds Meeting with Delegation from Middlebury College

25 October 2017

October 24th, representatives of Middlebury College (Vermont, USA), one of the oldest and most prestigious universities teaching humanities in the United States, came to MGIMO University. The delegation, led by its Vice President for Academic Affairs Jeffrey Cason, was welcomed by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov and members of the faculty.

During the meeting, the sides decided to create modular MA programs in applied Russian Studies and to perform semester-long exchanges for BA students, with Middlebury College welcoming MGIMO students on their own platform at Oxford University.

Since 2013, MGIMO and Middlebury Institute have been interacting in many different areas, jointly training translators and developing a Russian research program. Their partnership agreement has enabled the bilateral mobility of students and professors.

Middlebury College is renowned for the quality of its humanities education and its «liberal arts» program has been ranked in the top five in America. The College puts an emphasis on the study of foreign languages and to that purpose has opened a network of branches around the world. MGIMO, Middlebury College and the PIR center launched in 2016 a dual Master’s program in Non-Proliferation Studies.
