MGIMO and International Bank for Economic Cooperation Sign Partnership Agreement

25 June 2019

June 25th, a partnership and cooperation agreement was concluded by MGIMO and the International Bank for Economic Cooperation (IBEC). The document was signed by the Chairman of the Board of IBEC Denis Ivanov and the University’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources Vladimir Morozov. Also attending the meeting were the Deputy Chairman of the Board Vladimir Liventsev and the Dean of the School of International Economic Relations Oleg Pichkov.

For several decades already, MGIMO has maintained its status as a leading Russian research and educational center in international economic relations. The University’s graduates form a significant part of the management of the IBEC. And this remains the case today. This new agreement has for goal to expand joint educational, scientific and professional activities and consolidate the relationship between the two parties.

The agreement allows for the organization and implementation of joint events and programs, seminars and master classes as well as consultations on student papers and master’s theses. The IBEC will also welcome MGIMO students and graduates for placements and practical training programs.

MGIMO students specializing in financial and economic issues will also, according to the agreement, learn about the best business practices of the bank and get to know during their studies the specifics of the profession. The IBEC, in turn, will be able to count on a reliable source of qualified employees.

After signing the agreement, the meeting participants visited the Refinitiv laboratory (ex. Thomson Reuters), which opened at MGIMO on June 19th. The Dean of the School of International Economic Relations, Oleg Pichkov, described to the guests the advantages of using the Eikon terminals in the educational process, from extracting analytical information to conducting tender simulations. The terminals will be used for Master students and in the framework of the double undergraduate program implemented by MGIMO with the University of Reading.
