December 13th, MGIMO and ADA University launched in Baku a joint MBA program in “Finance”. The program will begin in September 2020 on the sites of the two universities in Baku and Moscow.
The Vice-Rector for External, Government and Student Affairs of ADA University F.Ismailzade opened the meeting, introducing the participants and remarking that interest in the new program was wide, not only among prospective students from Azerbaijan and Russia, but also among representatives of the financial sectors of Turkey, Iran, South Korea, many of whom are attending the meeting.
The inauguration ceremony was kicked off by the Rector of ADA University, the Academician H.Pashayev, who outlined the directions for future cooperation between ADA University and MGIMO and noted that the experience of our University was used as a model to create from scratch the Diplomatic Academy of Azerbaijan. As ADA grows, it takes on new tasks and projects, remarked the Rector, and the dual program between MGIMO and the ADA University is the first joint initiative carried out with a Russian university.
In turn, MGIMO’s Vice-Rector A.Malgin noted that MGIMO and ADA University’s plans to implement a joint program go a long way back and that the universities’ position in their countries makes it necessary for this project to be successful and unordinary.
The dual MBA program in “Finance” was created for those students who look ahead and imagine their careers in extraordinary, but promising markets. The faculty members teaching in this program are representatives of the largest Russian and foreign banks, insurance companies, financial regulators and lawyers and all have a special message for students. A.Malgin also underlined the fact that rather than being “students” and “teachers”, participants in our programs are all potential business partners.
The Heads of the Business Schools of the University of ADA and MGIMO E.Nurmammedov and A.Mirzoyeva gave presentations to the audience on the structure of the new program, its modules and specific features, and took questions from prospective students.
Then, the Agreement on the joint MBA program in “Finance” was signed by the Vice-Rectors A.Malgin and F.Ismailzade.
Among those attending the meeting were the trade representative of Azerbaijan in Russia R.Aliyev and Russian diplomats. On the sidelines of the event, a master class was organized by the Associate Professor of MGIMO’s Department of International Finance V.Tkachev on financial markets and recent development trends in Russian corporate finance.
