MGIMO Signs Cooperation Agreement with Matej Bel University

December 16th, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov welcomed a delegation from the Slovak university Matej Bel, led by its Rector Vladimir Hiadlovsky. The parties reviewed issues related to their collaboration in education and research and signed a cooperation agreement.

The visiting delegation also comprised the Coordinator of the Research and Innovation Centre Kamila Borsekova, the Head of the Rector’s Office Andrea Dankova, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics Peter Kristofik, the Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations Branislav Kovacik, the Head of the Department of Political Science Jan Koper, other faculty members and Slovakian diplomats. Also attending the meeting on MGIMO’s side were its Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov, the Director of the European Studies Institute Tatiana Shashihina and faculty members.

Anatoly Torkunov greeted the guests and described to them the educational process at MGIMO, offering a detailed view of the University’s Masters programs and dual degrees run in partnership with the world’s leading institutions. The Rector drew the audience’s attention to Russia’s first English-language bachelor’s program implemented by MGIMO and suggested Matej Bel students be offered the opportunity to participate in MGIMO’s summer schools. Andrey Baykov shared further information about how MGIMO carries out student and academic exchanges.

Representatives of the Slovak delegation spoke of the projects under way in Matej Bel University and the mechanisms for collaboration with partner universities. They expressed their enthusiasm at setting-up joint projects with MGIMO in the fields of political science, international relations and economics. The meeting came to an end with the signing of the cooperation agreement.
