October 9th, the Aide to the President of Russia, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Olympians Foundation and First Vice-President of the Russian Olympic Committee of Russia Igor Levitin met with the management of the University and students of Advanced Training Programs.
The guests were greeted by MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, the Vice-Rector for General Affairs Artem Malgin and members of the faculty. The meeting was attended by the Director of the Russian Olympians Foundation Alexander Katushev and by students from MGIMO’s programs dedicated to the management of communications in sports.
The sides discussed the ways to train managers specializing in international sports communications, the need for them to speak fluent English and to master the basic concepts of law. Igor Levitin noted that the FIFA World Cup showed that Russia is capable of organizing high quality international events and that none of this know-how should be forgotten. The Presidential Aide drew the audience’s attention to the lack of specialists in Sports Diplomacy, who could defend Russia’s interests on the international sporting arena, and underlined that fact that «MGIMO is the best platform to train highly competent managers.»
