On August 28, MGIMO University Rector Anatoly Torkunov met with Lee Do-hoon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation, in MGIMO University.
The meeting was also attended by Alexander Panov, Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea in 1992-1994, Professor at the Department for Diplomatic Studies; Valery Sukhinin, Russian Ambassador to DPRK in 2006-2012, Associate Professor at the Department of Japanese, Korean, Indonesian and Mongolian Languages as well as by Stanislav Surovtsev, Vice-Rector for Students’ Development and International Affairs.
The parties discussed possible strategies for strengthening bilateral cooperation. The Ambassador was asked to provide possible assistance in terms of the participation of the Republic of Korea in the trilateral conference together with Chinese partners. This topic may be considered during the MGIMO University delegation's upcoming visit to China this fall. For his part, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of working together to increase the number of students from the Republic of Korea studying at MGIMO University.
At the end of the meeting, Anatoly Torkunov presented his publications on South Korean issues to the guest of honor.
