June 16th, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov received the Ambassador of Argentina to Russia, Ricardo Ernesto Lagorio for a meeting to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation in education.
On MGIMO’s side, the meeting was also attended by the Director of the Ibero-American Center, Alla Zenkovich and the Head of the University’s International Office, Egor Andreev. The Ambassador was accompanied in his visit by the Second Secretary of the Embassy, Jose Maria Otegui Alvarez.
Anatoly Torkunov extended his sincere congratulations to Ricardo Ernesto Lagorio on his recent appointment as Ambassador, and related to the guests the history of MGIMO University, underlining its specificities. The Rector also spoke of the cooperation between MGIMO and universities in Central and South America and described the work of MGIMO’s Ibero-American Center.
The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to MGIMO for the warm welcome and suggested the time had come to develop cooperation between Argentinian universities, particularly the University of Buenos Aires and the National University of La Plata, and MGIMO. As the meeting came to a close, MGIMO Rector invited his guests to participate in commemorative events of the Great Russian Revolution and gave the Ambassador a number of books published under his editorship.
