MGIMO at KRSU 25th Anniversary Celebrations

September 18th, the Kirghiz-Russian Slavic University named after B.N. Yeltsin gathered guests, students and faculty members to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its creation. MGIMO was represented at the event by the University’s Vice-Rector for Research Evgeny Kozhokin.

Celebrations were held at the Kirghiz State Philharmonic Society, where the widow of the first Russian President, Naina Yeltsina, awarded scholarships of the Boris Yeltsin Foundation to the fifty most deserving students of the University.

The Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Andrei Krutko conveyed the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s congratulations to the Rector of KRSU. The Head of the Presidential Office of Kyrgyzstan read out a solemn message from the Head of State Sooronbay Jeenbekov, emphasizing the importance of this institute’s mission for its country. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also sent his best wishes to the Rector of KRSU on this occasion.

MGIMO’s Vice-Rector Evgeny Kozhokin shared with the audience Anatoly Torkunov’s compliments to the University’s faculty members and staff. MGIMO and the KRSU signed an agreement on cooperation in 2004 and have maintained fruitful relations since then.

Vladimir Nifadiev thanked the guests for attending the event and for their kind regards, noting that 25 years is a significant anniversary for the University.
