September 28th, during a solemn ceremony at MGIMO, the President of the Republic of Guinea, Alpha Kondeh, was awarded the diploma of Honorary Doctor of the University. The guest of honor met with MGIMO management and delivered a doctoral lecture to an audience of students and faculty members.
The President was introduced to the audience by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Artem Malgin, who noted that Alpha Kondeh is a man well-known to all those who take an interest in Africa, a person who has dedicated his life to his country and to his continent and who leads the largest international regional organization.
Artem Malgin then presented the President with the mantle and diploma of Honorary Doctor of the University, an award MGIMO’s Academic Council decided to confer upon Alpha Kondeh during a meeting on September 20th. The guest’s doctoral lecture was dedicated to the place of Africa in the modern world. After a detailed analysis of the main challenges faced by the African continent, he spoke about the importance of the support rendered by the Soviet Union and now by Russia to Guinea and about Africa’s great development prospects. Alpha Kondeh also related the results of the meeting he had that day with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
