Conference on Japan at Eastern Economic Forum-2018

September 10th, the Eastern Economic Forum was kicked off with the international conference "Historical and Modern Aspects of Russian-Japanese Relations", which was co-organized by the Russian Historical Society, the History of Fatherland Foundation, the Far Eastern Federal University and the engineering company ENERGOTRANSPROEKT, with the support of the Russian Academy of Sciences and MGIMO.

The session was moderated by the Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky. The Rector of the Far Eastern Federal University Nikita Anisimov and the Director of the Eastern Economic Forum Igor Pavlov underlined how important it is to hold scientific conferences dedicated to relations with Japan.

MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Artem Malgin, welcomed the guests on behalf of MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov and spoke about the University’s long running tradition of teaching Japanese and MGIMO’s unique method for training professional translators. The conference continued with various presentations by Russian and Japanese experts.
