Minister-Counselor of Israeli Embassy Visits MGIMO

3 February 2021

February 3rd, the Minister-Counselor of the Israeli Embassy in Moscow, I.Amedi attended a meeting at MGIMO with the Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Associate Professor of the Department of Diplomacy V.Morozov, the Senior Researcher at the Center for Euro-Atlantic Security A.Baklitskiy and the Junior Research Associate at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies A.Margoev.

During the meeting, the experts discussed MGIMO’s cooperation with its Israeli partners and educational projects with the participation of Israeli diplomats and public figures. In December 2020, already online and on a nationwide scale, the University celebrated Hanukkah with the participation of the Ambassador of Israel to Russia Alexander Ben Zvi and the Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar.

MGIMO representatives and I. Amedi discussed the situation in the Middle East, including the prospects for restoring, under the new US administration, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program, as well as various ways of solving regional problems.

The sides agreed that under the current circumstances, an expert dialogue with the participation of representatives of the Middle East would be not only useful, but could even be considered necessary. The participants in the meeting agreed to further expand their collaboration by holding expert discussion sessions, including on campus at MGIMO.
