MGIMO and UN Information Centre Sign Cooperation Agreement

13 January 2017

January 12th, MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources Vladimir Morozov welcomed to the University the Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Moscow, Vladimir Kuznetsov. The sides signed an Agreement on Cooperation, which will enable the creation of joint training programs and the organization of internships within the UN.

Vladimir Kuznetsov noted that the institutionalization of relations would take the partnership between one of Russia’s best universities and the United Nations to a new level.

The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of human rights, and decided that in February, the viewing of a series of films on migration issues would be organized at MGIMO. The meeting participants also emphasized the importance of informing students about the activities of international organizations and the internships and employment opportunities they offer; suggesting a dedicated course of lectures could be created at MGIMO on this topic.

The agreement makes it possible for MGIMO students to intern at the UN Information Centre in Moscow and improve their professional skills. The UN Information Centre in Moscow is currently the only authorized representative of the United Nations Secretariat in Russia and plays a coordination and information role.
