December 19th, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov received the US Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman. The guest also delivered a lecture to MGIMO students about the foreign policy of the US and Russian-American relations.
The meeting was also attended by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov and the Counselor for Public Affairs of the embassy Thomas Leary.
Then the Ambassador gave a talk to an audience of students and faculty members of the University. Andrey Baykov introduced the guest, related the main stages of his diplomatic and political career, which he started off in Ronald Reagan’s presidential administration.
Jon Huntsman spoke about the current state of bilateral relations and described the different paths to overcome the difficulties between Russia and America. The talk was followed by a lively discussion with students of the University.
