September 27th-29th, a delegation from the National University of Public Service of Hungary came to MGIMO to participate in a round table dedicated to «Transregionalism and Models of Regional Integration» organized in the framework of the eleventh Russian International Studies Association Convention.
The round-table was set up by the Center for Sinology and Regional Projects and gathered prominent Russian and Hungarian academics. The event was launched by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources Vladimir Morozov, who expressed a kind welcome to the guests and noted that MGIMO is interested in expanding its cooperation with the Hungarian University. Judit Nagy, the Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the Hungarian National University of Public Service also greeted the audience.
The Dean of the School of Political Sciences Alexey Voskresensky gave a talk on the different trends of regionalism, transregionalism and globalization and their impact on the modern world. The Hungarian delegation comprised the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations and European Studies, Boglarka Koller, a number of representatives of the University’s management and faculty members. The event also benefited from the contributions of researchers from MGIMO and from Russian and foreign think tanks and universities.
A number of topics were discussed during the round table including regionalism, regional integration, the UE, ASEAN, Chinese integration initiatives and the internationalization of education. The Vice-Rectors also explored, in a separate meeting, the alleys for further cooperation between their two institutions. MGIMO and the National University of Public Service’s last joint conference was held in May 2017.
