Ambassador of Finland Mikko Hautala visits MGIMO

September 14th, MGIMO welcomed the Ambassador of Finland to Russia, Mikko Hautala together with the Head of the Embassy’s Political Department, Marja Koskela.

Mikko Hautala assumed his current office in Moscow in 2016. Before then, he served as Foreign Policy Adviser and Member of the Cabinet in the Office of President Sauli Niinisto. He speaks Russian fluently.

The guest was greeted by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Vladimir Morozov. Also attending on MGIMO’s side were the Senior Lecturer of the Department of North Europe and Baltic languages Tatiana Shishkina and administrative staff from the Human Resources Department.

During their interview, the parties discussed academic cooperation between Russia and Finland, with Vladimir Morozov underlining the fact that many MGIMO students learn the Finnish language and the University welcomes a number of Finnish students. The Ambassador spoke about the training of diplomats in Finland, remarking that many prominent civil servants attended MGIMO. After the meeting, the Ambassador delivered a lecture to students of the University and answered their questions about bilateral relations.
