August 27th, a delegation from the Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates led by its Minister of Education, His Excellency Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, came to MGIMO.
The guests were received by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for General Affairs Artem Malgin. The meeting was also attended by the Director of the School of Government and International Affairs, Mikhail Troitskiy, the Deputy Director of the University’s Odintsovo campus Elena Kozlovskaya, the Dean of the School of Government and Politics Henry Sardaryan and the Deputy Head of the Department of Middle East Languages Nikolai Pantyukhin.
Artem Malgin described to the guests the programs realized independently by MGIMO and those carried out jointly with leading foreign universities and spoke about the main activities of the different research centers and the School of Business and International Proficiency.
The Minister underlined the importance for the United Arab Emirates of expanding cooperation between MGIMO and the UAE, showing a particular interest in creating joint programs and implementing student exchanges.
Mikhail Troitskiy characterized the different programs offered by the School of Government and International Affairs and gave a detailed account of the benefits of studying in MGIMO’s English-language programs.
The sides also decided to start working on creating a joint master's program in smart city management based on the one jointly realized by MGIMO’s School of Government and Politics together with Yonsei University (South Korea).
Nikolai Pantyukhin spoke about MGIMO’s tradition of teaching foreign languages, including Arabic. The guest of honour expressed the UAE’s readiness to contribute in every possible way to the work of the School of Arabic Studies.
After the meeting, the guests were taken on a tour of the Museum of Rare Books and the MGIMO History Museum.
