Press Conference on Upcoming II Global Forum of Young Diplomats

7 November 2018

November 6th, a press conference dedicated to the second Global Forum of Young Diplomats, scheduled for November 11th-15th, was held at TASS Russian News Agency. MGIMO was represented at the event by the University’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Vladimir Morozov.

The first Global Forum of Young Diplomats took place in Sochi in 2017 in the framework of the World Festival of Youth and Students. The Foreign Ministry’s Council of Young Diplomats worked for five years to set up this platform, which allows proactive young diplomats to discuss international matters openly and impartially. This year, over 160 delegates from 60 countries are expected to attend. MGIMO works closely together with the Council of Young Diplomats.

At the press conference, the Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats Konstantin Kolpakov shared with the audience the program of the forum and its main objectives. Vladimir Morozov underlined the importance of horizontal diplomacy, which is actively being promoted by the Council for Young Diplomats. The Vice-Rector also remarked that alongside training diplomats for the Russian Foreign Ministry, MGIMO is reinforcing its cooperation with other state structures. Indeed, students have the opportunity to undergo internships abroad in the missions of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, at Rossotrudnichestvo and within international organizations.
