MGIMO Hosts First Gerchikova Readings

31 October 2017

October 31st, MGIMO’s Department of Management, Marketing and Foreign Economic Activities organized an international conference entitled «The First Gerchikova Readings. Modern problems of Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship», which gathered prominent experts from all over Russia and abroad.

The conference was set up in order to honor the legacy of the outstanding economist Irina Gerchikova, who had a huge impact on how management is taught today at MGIMO and who herself trained several generations of experts in international business and marketing. The plenary session was moderated by the Head of the Department of Management, Marketing and Foreign Economic Activities Natalia Konina, who underlined the specificities of MGIMO’s approach to the study of management: combining an in-depth analysis and an international perspective while keeping a practical focus.

A myriad of topics were explored during the conference including: international management at times of global change, globalization and the development of international marketing, strategic management and corporate governance in international business, recent trends in innovative entrepreneurship, branding and communication in an global economic society, international business and the economic activities of Russian companies abroad.

Over 70 reports were made by various speakers on a wide range of subjects and the conference was attended by approximately 200 people from Russian and foreign corporations, universities, think tanks and research centers.
