Press conference on Opening of VI Forum of Young Diplomats «Eurasia»

July 4th, a press conference was held at the Russian News Agency TASS to mark the opening of the VI Forum of Young Diplomats «Eurasia». The Forum is scheduled will take place in Moscow from July 10th to July 11th.

The Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats at the Russian Foreign Ministry Konstantin Kolpakov, the Director of the Protocol and Organizational Support Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission Daniyar Turusbekov, the Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund Roman Grishenin and MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources Vladimir Morozov spoke about the specific features of the Forum this year, the upcoming meetings and agreements to be signed.

«This Forum has been running since 2014. Over the past five years, it has proved its viability, necessity and unique nature as a platform for young specialists in international affairs to exchange ideas. In addition to CIS countries, Eurasian states, such as Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as Afghanistan and Mongolia also have a presence at the Forum. In total, the event will be attended by 35 delegates from 15 states, among those, countries with which we have a significant economic and trade turnover such as China, Singapore and Vietnam», remarked Konstantin Kolpakov.

During the press-conference, Vladimir Morozov described the main paths for cooperation between the Council of Young Diplomats and MGIMO, underlining the importance of «horizontal diplomacy» and confirming the University’s participation in the work of the Forum.

The VI Eurasia Forum is a traditional platform for informal discussions between young representatives of foreign affairs institutions of the CIS and «Greater Eurasia». This year the event is dedicated to integration processes in the Eurasian space.
