MGIMO University and Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University signed a Memorandum of Cooperation

On November 17, a memorandum of cooperation between MGIMO University and Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University (Agra, India) was signed in a remote format.

At the ceremony, MGIMO University was represented by Vice-Rector for Language and Pre-University Education Igor Putintsev, Head of the Directorate of Language Training Marina Chigasheva, Deputy Head of the Directorate Natalia Ches, Assistant to the Vice-Rector Anastasiya Zaseeva and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Indo-Iranian and African Languages Sergey Fedotov. Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University was represented by its Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ashu Rani, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Ajay Taneja and Russian Language Lecturer Anuj Garg.

The signing of the memorandum of cooperation between the two universities was the result of preliminary negotiations held by the MGIMO University delegation in India in July this year during a visit to leading Indian universities, schools and educational organizations.

The parties also signed an agreement on student exchanges providing for short-term and semester internships for students doing their Bachelor's and Master's degrees as well as for PhD students.

In his welcoming speech, Igor Putintsev said that throughout their history Russia and India have been friends and have respected each other, and the successful preparation of the memorandum and the agreement on student exchanges testifies to the mutual commitment to cooperation. Mr. Putintsev expressed confidence that the signed documents will become the foundation for a long-term mutually beneficial partnership between the two Universities.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ashu Rani, in turn, stressed the interest in student exchanges that support language immersion and help Indian and Russian students learn Russian and Hindi respectively.

Senior Lecturer of the Department of Indo-Iranian and African Languages Sergey Fedotov welcomed the Indian colleagues in Hindi and expressed deep gratitude for their willingness to cooperate. Russian Language Lecturer Anuj Garg responded stressing that the memorandum is of great importance for both sides.

Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University was founded in 1927 and is one of the oldest universities in Uttar Pradesh. The University is steadily progressing as a center of higher academic professional education focused on innovative research in the field of education both at the national and international levels. The University has 17 Institutes and Departments.
