March 18th, MGIMO received a delegation from the Beijing International Studies University (BISU) led by its Vice-President for International Relations Zhu Peifen. The sides signed an updated Cooperation Agreement.
MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov, the Head of the International Office Egor Andreev and members of the faculty attended the meeting on MGIMO’s side.
The Chinese delegation comprised the Director of the Institute of Europe Jiang Lu, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Europe Xu Chuanhua, the Coordinator of the Department of International Exchanges Yan Hun and representatives of the Chinese embassy in Moscow.
Andrey Baykov greeted the guests, underlining the role played by Chinese universities in training Russian sinologists and noting that MGIMO students are increasingly interested in learning Chinese. The Vice-Rector also remarked that the Chinese students at MGIMO are appreciated for their good faith, open-mindedness and strong work ethic.
The Chinese colleagues thanked MGIMO for helping to educate Chinese diplomats and Russia specialists. BISU and MGIMO signed their first cooperation agreement in 2009 and have been active partners since then, operating each year student exchanges. As the meeting came to a close, the parties signed an updated cooperation agreement.
MGIMO has got ten active cooperation agreements with universities in China and has implemented a dual degree program with the University for International Business and Economics (UIBE). There are currently around 80 Chinese students studying at MGIMO.
