October 18th to 21st, MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov and the Head of Pedagogical Programs at the Department for Masters Preparation Alexey Dundich, went to Beijing. During the trip, the MGIMO delegation held talks with partner universities and participated in the «China Education Expo 2018».
First, the guests visited Peking University, one of the leading universities in China, and had a meeting with the President of the Institute for International and Strategic Studies Wang Jisi and the Executive Vice-President Guan Guihai. The sides discussed cooperation in research and agreed to hold a conference in April 2019 on teaching methods. Andrey Baykov spoke with representatives of the Faculty of International Relations about the opportunity to implement student exchanges and to create a dual Master’s degree.
The delegation next met with MGIMO’s traditional partner, the University of International Business and Economics. MGIMO representatives were greeted by the University’s Vice-Chancellors Wang Qiang and Zhao Zhongxiu, and had a meeting with students from the dual degree program «Russia and China: Economic and Political Trends in Eurasia.» The parties considered opening a joint postgraduate program and organizing an academic conference on integration in Eurasia.
MGIMO representatives went to the exhibition «China Education Expo 2018». This year Russian universities were guests of honor and Russia’s Deputy Minister for Science and Education Marina Borovskaya attended the event. In the framework of the conference, MGIMO participated in a seminar for Chinese recruitment agencies and Andrey Baykov gave an interview to the Xinhua news agency.
