Alexander Bastrykin Gives a Talk at MGIMO

March 1st, the Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin came to MGIMO University to speak to law students. The guest was introduced by the Dean of the International Law School, Gennady Tolstopyatenko.

The meeting was one of a series of events held in the framework of the May 2016 Agreement on Cooperation signed by MGIMO and the Investigative Committee.

In his presentation, Alexander Bastrykin examined Russia’s criminal law procedures in the light of new trends in international law. The Speaker analysed how the international community reacts to internal and international armed conflicts and the way international investigations are carried out, particularly concerning war criminals. Alexander Bastrykin also commented on the conflict in South-east Ukraine.

The lecture was followed by a question and answers session and a lively discussion. During his visit, Alexander Bastrykin also met with MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov.
