October 26th, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Russian Federation Eitvydas Bajarūnas and the Counsellor to the Ambassador Virginija Umbrasienė visited the MGIMO Scientific Library. The guests were received by the Vice-Rector for Science and Research Andrey Baykov.
The meeting was attended by the students and faculty of the School of International Relations. During the visit, the Ambassador donated to the library 11 books in Russian, Lithuanian and English on the history and culture of Lithuania. Among them are the collections of documents of the Joint Lithuanian-Russian Commission of Historians entitled “USSR and Lithuania during the Second World War” and “Lithuania — Russia. 1917–1920”; “History of Lithuania” by Edvardas Gudavičius; an edition of the first Lithuanian Statute of 1529, and others.
Eitvydas Bajarūnas and Andrey Baykov discussed possible cooperation between MGIMO University and the Embassy of Lithuania to Russia. The guests were offered an excursion to the Rare Book and MGIMO History Museums.
