October 4th, MGIMO welcomed Petr Aven, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alfa-Bank. The event is the first in a series of open lectures organized by the Department of Corporate Governance and Project Management, at MGIMO’s School of Business and International Proficiency, together with the Pavel Stolypin Institute for the Economy of Growth and the All-Russian public organization «Business Russia».
The lecture was dedicated to Russia’s first steps as a modern economy, to the challenges of its economic policy and to the Russian business climate. Petr Aven shared with the students his experience participating in the reforms of the 1990’s in Russia, at a time when he was Minister of Foreign Economic Relations.
After his lecture, the guest took questions from the audience and spoke about the Russian economy today, the prospects for its dedollarization and the ways to promote economic growth. Petr Aven also commented on the importance of mentoring programs in universities.
