On November 15th, the MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Russian Federation Abdulrahman Bin Suleiman Al Ahmed.
It is the first visit by His Excellency to MGIMO University. During the meeting, the parties discussed the history of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Russia, bilateral humanitarian ties, academic mobility, exchange programs with MGIMO partner universities, including with the Prince Saud Al Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies of the MFA of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The participants of the discussion specifically mentioned the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in education and research.
The studying of Arabic started 200 years ago at the Lazarev Institute of Oriental Languages (the MGIMO’s predecessor). Today, at the University’s Scientific Library you can find a unique collection of Arab books and manuscripts, with the Middle East Culture Studies occupying its rightful place among the most important subjects studied by future experts in international relations.
