MGIMO Welcomes Ambassador of Malta

13 June 2019

June 13th, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov greeted the Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to Russia, Pierre Clive Agius.

Anatoly Torkunov described to the guest the University’s activities at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and the European Studies Institute’s joint projects with the European Commission and the Delegation of the European Union to Russia. The Rector also spoke about his work as Co-Chair of the Trianon Dialogue Russian-French Civil Society Forum.

The sides hashed out different aspects of the Memorandum of Understanding between MGIMO and the University of Malta, which was signed last December. The Ambassador made suggestions regarding the directions the partnership could take, noting that the fields of information technology, digital education, web economics and blockchain were particularly promising and that the University of Malta was one of the leading universities in these spheres of study.

The Rector invited Pierre Clive Agius to give a lecture to students of the University at the start of the next academic year and the Ambassador reciprocated by inviting Anatoly Torkunov to visit Malta and its leading university.

The conversation was attended by the Head of the International Office Egor Andreev.
