February 12th, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov welcomed the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Amjad Adaileh. The meeting was also attended by the University’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs, Andrey Baykov.
The parties discussed a myriad of topics including language training, the geopolitical situation in the Middle East and academic exchanges between universities.
The Ambassador spoke about Russia’s active efforts to stabilize the situation in the Middle East and expressed his enthusiasm about expanding relations between Jordanian universities and MGIMO, in the format of student exchanges and joint research projects.
The Rector expressed his support for this initiative; describing to the guest MGIMO’s tradition of teaching the Arabic language and the cooperation agreements MGIMO has concluded with universities in Jordan.
