November 21st to 26th, a delegation from MGIMO met with partner universities and attended a series of scientific conferences in Seoul.
The visiting delegation comprised MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov, the Head of the Department for Diplomatic Studies, Deputy Chairman of the Russian-Korean Society, Alexander Panov, and members of the faculty.
The guests first attended a traditional joint conference of MGIMO and the Korea National Diplomatic Academy, during which the sides discussed the prospects for the denuclearization of the peninsula, security in Northeast Asia and bilateral relations between Russia and the Republic of Korea.
November 26th, a roundtable dedicated to the Korean Peninsula in Northeast Asia and economic relations between South Korea and Russia was held at Seoul State University with participants from various Russian and Korean universities. During a meeting with representatives of Seoul State University, an agreement was reached on expanding student exchanges with MGIMO University.
The MGIMO delegation also had an interview with the Russian-Korean Society and the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange and the sides signed a Memorandum on carrying out a joint study of Russian-Korean relations, the result of which will be published in both countries. During his time in Seoul, Andrey Baykov also took part in the 14th QS-APPLE Higher Education Exhibition-Conference, and gave a talk on the challenges and prospects of the export of Russian education, based on the example of MGIMO.
