February 13th-15th, the Russian Investment Forum unfolded in Sochi with the participation of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. The central topic of the Forum was how to implement national projects, from strategy to realization.
MGIMO organized different events at the Forum, including a panel on «The Cyberspace Industry as a Development Path for the IT Industry» which was moderated by Stanislav Surovtsev, Head of the Youth Policy Department at MGIMO. The panel was devoted to this relatively new segment of the digital economy, which is rapidly growing. It is estimated that the market for e-sports may reach 53 million dollars in 2019.
The panellists of this session were Roman Dvoryankin General Manager of Virtus. pro, Dmitry Kolobov, Director of the Department for the Development and Manufacturing of Socially Important Goods at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Smith, President of the Russian eSports Federation and Viktoria Tarantina General Manager of iRU. MGIMO students also actively participated in the discussions.
On February 14th, MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Legal and Administrative Issues Sergey Shitkov signed a cooperation agreement with the Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev, on the creation of training programs at MGIMO for regional civil servants.
