2 October 2019

October 2nd, MGIMO greeted the Director of the IAEA Secretariat’s Human Resources Department Kate Rozhkov, the IAEA Human Resources Specialist Shiori Helland and the Senior Advisor to the Permanent Mission of Russia to International Organizations in Vienna, Alexander Bychkov.

The guests were received by the University’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources Vladimir Morozov and the Head of the Department for Work with Students and Graduates Anton Podshivalov. During the meeting, the sides reviewed the different changes to be made to the agreement on internships for MGIMO students at the IAEA, before its signature in December this year at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna. The parties agreed on the main conditions and requirements surrounding these placements.

Following this, the guests met with students from those MGIMO programs, which are linked to the work of IAEA and would be interested in interning at the Agency. Kate Rozhkov gave a talk about the activities of the IAEA, describing its structure and the professional opportunities it offers young professionals. One of the key requirements for IAEA is a perfect command of the English language.

Kate Rozhkov gave a thorough answer to all the questions put to her by students, reminding all interested that the minimum duration for an internship is 3 months and that in order to apply, students must be at least 20 years of age and have completed three full years of higher education. Shiori Helland encouraged the students to familiarize themselves with the information resources of the Agency, which describe the application process. Alexander Bychkov spoke about the cooperation between Russia and the IAEA, implemented in the framework of a program on training junior professionals.

At the end of the meeting, the guests took questions from the audience and gave additional details regarding the criteria for selecting interns and staff members, the deadlines for this year’s applications and the IAEA scholarship programs.
