Delegation from Corvinus University Comes to MGIMO

March 15th, MGIMO welcomed the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and International Relations of Corvinus University Laszlo Csicsmann and the Exchange Program Coordinator, Esztella Varga.

The guests were greeted by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs, Andrey Baykov, who made a speech describing the University’s main educational and research activities.

Corvinus University is renown for its excellence in teaching International Relations and each year a thousand students participate in exchange programs with leading universities around the world. Corvinus is part of a prestigious consortium of universities, comprising the University of Bologna, Fudan University and many others.

The Dean noted that internationalization is the first priority of the University. MGIMO and Corvinus are long-term partners, operating student exchanges on a regular basis. The guests suggested that MGIMO and Corvinus University develop joint programs at graduate and postgraduate levels; an offer to which MGIMO representatives responded positively.

The Head of the International Office Egor Andreev spoke about MGIMO’s tradition of teaching Hungarian, about the Hungarian club, a platform used by students to promote the Hungarian culture at the University, and about the many famous Hungarian alumni who have become diplomats, politicians and businessmen.

After the meeting, Laszlo Csicsmann gave a lecture to students of the University on Hungary’s role in the EU and on bilateral relations with Russia. The guests were also taken on a tour of MGIMO’s museum of rare books.
