Chinese Experts Speak with MGIMO Researchers

September 18th, a delegation from the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament, headed by its Vice-President Yu Hongjun, met with a group of researchers from MGIMO’s Center for Comprehensive Chinese Studies and Regional Projects led by the University’s Vice-Rector for Research Evgeny Kozhokin.

Also participating on the Russian side were the Director of the Center for Comprehensive Chinese Studies and Regional Projects, Professor A. Voskresensky, and researchers from the Center for East Asian Studies and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, A. Dikarev, and I. Denisov.

The Chinese delegation included the Vice-President of the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament and former Deputy Head of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Yu Hongjun, the Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Lu Guicheng, the Deputy Director of the Chinese Bureau for Publishing Foreign Languages, Wang Gangyi, the Director of the Center for the Study of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia at East China University Bay Wenly, the Director of the Institute for Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Sun Zhuangzhi, the Director of the Center for Global Studies at the Xinhua News Agency, Xia Lin, the Deputy Dean of the School of Journalism and Communications at Tsinghua University Zhou Qinan, the Director of the Institute for Contemporary Chinese and World Studies, Yu Yongquan, and staff members of these universities and institutions.

In their presentations, the Chinese participants remarked that China, based on its policy of «not creating alliances, not causing conflicts, not engaging in confrontations with third countries», has for goal in its foreign policy to strengthen peace, cooperation and positive developments on the world stage. During the meeting, the parties mulled over the current state of international relations, Russia and China’s foreign policy, bilateral relations and various directions for future cooperation.
