President of BRICS International Forum at MGIMO

November 15th, the President of BRICS International Forum, Purnima Anand came to MGIMO. The guest had a meeting with Andrey Baykov, the University’s Vice- Rector for Graduate and International Programs, to review opportunities and directions for future cooperation.

P. Anand explained that the goal of the forum is to create ties between the BRICS countries and Indian public organizations. The forum acts as a platform for different structures and experts of BRICS countries to share best practices.

A. Baykov told the guest about MGIMO’s cooperation with Indian universities, describing the different exchange programs, which have been implemented and the BRICS Network University. MGIMO faculty members frequently participate in the BRICS Forum, the BRICS Legal Forum and various Russian-Indian forums. In 2018, with the help provided by the Russian Federal Bar Association, an educational module for young lawyers of the BRICS countries was created. The sides also exchanged ideas regarding the work of MGIMO’s Business Incubator, which could be used as a basis for collaboration between the professional circles of BRICS countries.

P. Anand expressed interest in cooperating with MGIMO and creating within the University a center for educating young leaders and businessmen of BRICS countries.
