September 12th, in Seville (Spain) the 29th annual exhibition-conference of the European Association for International Education started. The event gathers a large number of universities from the world over and MGIMO has become a regular participant.
Representatives of more than 150 countries attended the conference, which had for guiding theme «the mosaic of cultures», referring to the colorful mosaics the Spanish region of Andalusia is famous for.
The plenary session was kicked-off by the President of the EAIE Association Markus Laitinen. The guests were also greeted by the President of the Government of Andalusia Susana Diaz Pacheco and by the Mayor of Seville Juan Espadas. A Professor from Oxford University, Alexander Betts, gave a talk to the audience, underlining the need for international cooperation in higher education to overcome global challenges such as poverty, the refugee issue and the deterioration of the living standards in many countries which has led to alienation, intolerance and radicalism.
It is the fourth time MGIMO participates in this exhibition and our University presented this year a separate stand, which attracted the attention of many potential students and partner universities. MGIMO was represented at the event by the Head of the International Office Egor Andreev and the Public Relations Specialist Ekaterina Tronevskaya, who also met with their counterparts from partner universities based in France, the UK, the USA, Germany and Spain.
