Department of Public Governance

The Department of Public Governance of the School of Governance and Politics has been providing training for bachelors and masters for more than two decades.

The Department implements the following bachelor programs: «Digital Public Governance», «Management of International Projects», «Big Data Public Governance», as well as the master programs: «Smart Cities Management», «Management of State-owned Corporations», «Management of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Projects». All training programs are in great demand among applicants, and the master program «Smart Cities Management» is recognized as one of the 10 most promising in Russia according to «Rossiyskaya Gazeta».

The Department provides undergraduates with comprehensive training in such disciplines as «Public Governance in the Modern World», «Theory of Management», «Public Governance of Socio-Economic Development», «Civil and Municipal Service», «Public Policy», «Regulation of Political Conflicts», etc.. In addition, the Department offers a range of disciplines focusing on the digital transformation of society and public governance. Such disciplines include «Blockchain Technologies», «Artificial Intelligence», «Data Mining», «Data Science», «Venture Investments», «Public management of innovations», etc.

Well-known Russian experts, professionals in their field, work at the Department of Public Governance. The teaching staff are actively working scientists whose research forms the basis of educational literature. Most of the disciplines are provided with unique manuals developed by a team of MGIMO teachers.

1. «Digital Public Governance» Program (DPG)

The goal of the program is to prepare highly qualified specialists who have the necessary set of knowledge and skills to work with modern technological solutions in public governance. The widespread development of the digital economy requires updating both basic and special disciplines, which is reflected in the curricula of the Department of Public Governance. The key profile disciplines read for students of this program cover modern information technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital platforms, etc.

In order to fulfill this goal training is provided in the following specialized disciplines: strategic management, corporate finance, risk management, global markets and international development institutions.

3. «Big Data Public Governance» Program

The key profile disciplines of the program include Big Data Economics, Artificial Intelligence and Computerized Learning, Data Analysis and Visualization, Cryptoeconomics and Blockchain Technology, etc.
